Took Awhile

..but people connected the dots after they eventually decided to board the social media greed train. Only problem for Reddit™ is they have a little different sort of clientele, some of whom take exception to it when greedy technoprenuers stick their fingers in pockets where they don’t belong. This feline ain’t no pussycat. What’s the one thing tech companies tolerate the least?

I don’t believe those former Twitter™ employees are gonna regret it one bit in this tech mecca known as the greater Denver metro area. There’s more keyboard jokey jobs in a plethora of sectors around here than you can shake a stick at. It’s why we moved here from the Springs after I retired from the Air Force.

Slow Sunday

I run connection tests at certain times to keep tabs on Centurylink™. They’ve been much better in most programming slots the past couple years, but still getting some excessive congestion Sunday morning. With all the reliance on cyber-fueled business and online operations of all kinds these days, you’d think a little better infrastructure might be called for.

I have so many 1st world problems it’s just ridiculous.

Just go to church already.
I’d pay for fiber to do this reliably, 24×7.

Playing With Fire

Once again we humans find ourselves delving into realms of engineering with a dearth of knowledge in the field. Just remember what happens when people start leveraging new technology they do not fully understand. History is replete with enthusiastic trailblazers unleashing their own early demise in the quest for better engineering. Let’s keep it small scale, for the time being please.

What if somebody, company, independent group, state-sponsored cabal or any other entity you might imagine figures out how to rack and stack all this shyt in the most widely distributed dynamic database anyone ever envisioned? It’s a competition to rule the world, shifting into high tech overdrive, fueled by Moore’s Law.

Criminals are what they are. Un-traceable weapons are just tools of the trade. Wonder how many will be lining up to get them serialized along with all their PII? 3D printing? Seriously? What do you think they’re doing with that shyt?

Pond Up and Running

It took awhile longer than expected to get the liner in shape once again. But it’s looking good, better each year, so I wanted to get it near perfected in anticipation of winter ops, maybe for the 24-25 season. The system’s now running a secondary internal circulation pump and bottom filter, so the main pump and waterfall can be turned off during cold weather hibernation months without incurring water quality issues.

It will still need cleaning at season’s end, but that can be accomplished in a few hours with fish waiting in an aerated bin while the sump pump does it’s work. That’s a whole new maintenance process needing worked out, but we’re getting there. The lily needs re-potted and set in shallower water to get re-started. The plants were all stressed from being inside too long. We’ll call this the before pic for the year:

It would be nice not needing to maintain a winter aquarium for these guys in the basement.

Credit Where Credit is Due

I thought the care I received from the Veterans Administration right up until about two weeks after my last hip replacement was stellar. No question they seem to have a good template for large scale healthcare. It all rests on the people doing the work.

The VA takes care of about 9 million veterans at 1,255 facilities — the nation’s largest integrated health care system. Despite many widely publicized scandals, VA health care has been consistently rated as competitive with private care in dozens of peer-reviewed articles.
