Panama 2024

These should’ve been posted last month, but despite spending an inordinate amount of time sitting at the PC these days, still fail to find enough of it. Looks like things are humming right along on the isthmus, with the exception of Telin’s recent divorce. I still marvel at how far and wide the extended family reaches out all over the world from there.

Just a few favs. The rest here.

English Breakfast

Between RAF Mildenhall and Daws Hill, we spent six years there. It’s where things really got going for us, with Phoebe showing up at some point. Michelle still makes the best English Breakfast. Anybody who spent time in Merry ‘ol England knows what they’re talking about in this compendium.

Peak TV

Not exactly sure what they’re talking about here. Sounds like a cash flow problem. I stopped watching all broadcast and cable TV at least ten years ago. Well, except for sports and news. The entertainment industry ran it’s course with me last decade. The rest of the viewing public will take longer to catch up. Apparently Americans really do have too much time on their hands.

There is no doubt that the TV content landscape will be very different once the strike is settled. The work stoppage has set off a domino effect among delayed shooting schedules that will complicate the best-laid plans of networks and streamers for months, if not years. But even without the strike-induced disruption to the content pipeline, the volume of scripted series orders is expected to drop by double-digit percentages in the coming years.

Troublemakers

Now I gotta start buggin’ em’ for more pics. Only got the one. Wasn’t gonna make another post until the 9th, just to prove myself wrong, but some things are more important that than Pootin‘s little war of aggression.

Mom’s a Road Warrior Now

Michelle’s halfway through a business trip to head office in Springfield. Me and the menagerie have to do without her for another week, while she gets per-Diem restaurant fare and we fend for ourselves. Waaaaaaah!

Weekend Tourist

Panama Family

Looks like the gang down on the isthmus is having another great Xmas!

Happy Holidays!

A Different View

I always post a pic of Michelle’s Xmas decorations around this time of year.  As usual, I only participated to the extent of getting things plugged in.  This year she put the icicle lights up on the gutter where they nicely animate the main front security cam.  Nothing to celebrate this year, but I guess it’s still good to see all the decorations.

4°F with 3 inches of fresh powder on the ground this morning.  Merry Pandemic!

Mom's Killin' it Too!

The Air Force used to pay me to do this kind of stuff, but apparently it’s now a recreational/sports thing:

Tis the Season!

…to decorate the house with xmas lights! And once again, Michelle did a great job, despite receiving my assistance with only the wiring. Our humble little display is a nice touch, but really pales in comparison to some of the neighbors.

The folks in the house across the creek just north of here have always had a pretty intense xmas display thing going on. Until this year it had a soundtrack, but now they’ve updated it with some sort of timing device that feels like it wants to give me an epileptic seizure. I’m gonna take another shot at this if we ever get some snow…

Panama 2016

Just finished organizing the pics from the Girl’s trip to Panama last December for your viewing pleasure. There are some good shots of Michelle’s extended family at the bottom. It’s pretty obvious how so many guys like me ended up finding their wives down there…

Ladies

Mom's in a New Bimmer

After the 335D fiasco described earlier, it became apparent we had become a 3-car family.  The trucks and the ’71 New Yorker don’t really count in the transportation equation, since the women either cannot or will not drive them for one reason or another.  Things get a little dicey with one car in the shop and two teenage girls driving and needing to go wherever it is they go to do whatever it is they do.  Francie’s volleyball schedule is starting to heat up again and Phoebe is away more than home these days.  I’ve lost track of those going’s-on for the most part lately.  Ignorance can be as they say, bliss.

So we took advantage of Gebhardt’s end-of-model-year lease campaign and Michelle is now driving a 328 X-Drive Sportline.  It’s a pretty sweet car she can safely drive in the snow, unlike the 335D.  It also should be the first vehicle we’ve ever had around here I do not have to deal with at all, from a maintenance perspective.  I’m going to enjoy the hell out of that, even if I never again set foot in the new Bimmer for the next three years!
