~ Boiing! ~

Like a compressed spring, the Starliner is readied for launch. The star imagery gets lost on me. We’re burning more hydrocarbons than an entire small town uses to heat their homes all winter just reaching orbit in one shot.

Then comes a crewed Starship, at some point soon. The Boeing vs. Space-X saga continues, with illusory bottom lines shifting faster than the shade I been throwing on Boeing for twenty years. I’m sure the astronauts have all their affairs in order.

The bottom line is that Boeing technically earned the flight software milestones in its commercial crew contract. But by not putting in the work for an end-to-end test of its software, the company failed its final exam.

Failure is not an option, mutherfuckers.

Balfour, My Ass

Selective memory is the answer. It is easy enough to understand why the British would prefer to forget that they needed the prior approval of Allies (the French, no less!). Initially, the British wanted the gratitude of the Jews for themselves. Later, when Zionism became a burden, they wanted the exclusive prerogative to downgrade the “national home” in any way they chose, without being second-guessed (by the Americans, of all people!). Even today, Britons ridden by imperial guilt over the Palestinians want the privilege to wallow in it alone. Britain, in this view, has a unique obligation to “set things right”—a remote echo of past imperial hubris.

The history’s all there, easy enough to read and understand for any marginally intelligent person interested in doing so. In many cases throughout the halls of power across the political vista, presumptuous policymakers prefer using this issue to leverage their own interests. The problem is, it all boils down to the same goddamned religious bullshyt roiling strife all over the planet, purveyed by craven power grabbers, eager to subjugate the masses for doing their selfish, greedy will.

Israel and the Palestinians are just pawns baited with religion in an irrelevant, centuries-old imperial chess game.

Mini Swat

It really worked this time. Why do people have to keep getting killed by incompetent cops? Consider a career move if you plan to continue knocking on domestic disturbance doors with an itchy trigger finger. Some jilted chick was lurking about answering questions right beforehand. Maybe he was the problem, who knows, it doesn’t matter anymore.

But the officer asks “which room is it?” and the woman responds, “1401.” She adds, “But the girl sounded scared, the one who called.”

Deadly force not justified in airman’s shooting.

A smart cop hearing no disturbance, would have got some names and phone numbers and been on his way to file the report at the end of his shift.

Hamas Schools

Zionist mutherfuckers are pushing it too far this time. Without provenance of the ground you walk, you’re really on thin ice.

Stack OverFuck

Anybody who didn’t see this coming up 6th Avenue has tons of Meta® and Google® adds popping up everywhere thanks to their sponsorship, as well. 😉

Users who disagree with having their content scraped by ChatGPT are particularly outraged by Stack Overflow’s rapid flip-flop on its policy concerning generative AI. For years, the site had a standing policy that prevented the use of generative AI in writing or rewording any questions or answers posted. Moderators were allowed and encouraged to use AI-detection software when reviewing posts.

Time to start covering your tracks, people. Gen up a good AI game-plan if you have any valuable intellectual property. Everything’s for sale somewhere. lotsa Stuff is already comprimised. Think AI hallucinations might be an issue?

Most Important Case?

I guess if anybody ought to know, it’s Ty Cobb. It’ll probably be awhile before my question is satisfactorily explored, much less answered.

“She has not honored the public’s interest for one day in this case, as she has sat in her office, apparently paralyzed from ruling on easily resolvable motions. And sadly, this case will not go to trial, notwithstanding the fact it’s one of the most important cases in history and could have easily been tried in advance of the election,” Cobb said.

And OBTW, go fuck urself, bitch.

Frog in the Ukrainian Pot

We prefer to do most of our own cooking. And I don’t recall being asked if I want sides of religion with every goddamned thing the government seems most concerned with serving up these days. Foreign aid delay has been one of the popular entrees coming out of D.C. lately and I’ve had my fill.

Not that domestic issues are progressing either, with the possible exception of deliberately degrading healthcare and undermining basic constitutional values. All these goals are bedrock requirements of the new GOP’s platform of anti-abortion, isolationist, corrupt fascist nutbags known as the Freedom Caucus, presently crippling Congress.

The bad part is, they’re getting help from a Supreme Court packed by a criminal POTUS, enabled by like-minded scum in Congress. Their scheme seems to be going according to plan, at least to some extent.

Democracy died in Russia a long time ago. Ukraine’s is on life-support right next door.

Mitochondria

The researchers suggest that “suicide attempts may actually be part of a larger physiological impulse to stop a stress response that has become unbearable at the cellular level.” Monitoring mitochondrial function by measuring blood levels of mitochondrial metabolites may have clinical value as a predictor of suicide risk.

I get that. Try walking around with a torn lumbar disc the way I did for a year.

Tom Cotton: 100% Fuckwit

A senator from the great state of Arkansas appeared on ABC This Week today to repeatedly assert the mideast conflict is 100% Hamas’ fault. I have to wonder how stupid a person needs to be to get elected to Congress. There appears to be no minimum qualification on that standard.

Then he went on to evade questions about previous, public Fuckwit statements he made. This shit-for-brains MAGA mutherfucker is a disgrace to all that is right and good.

Cinco de Mayo

The day-drinking holiday mis-appropriated by white people. Yeah, I’m no big fan of holidays, just generally speaking. I often find the religious examples particularly distasteful, with very few exceptions. Leave it to the Americans to pervert anything for revenue and profit.

For many Latinos, Cinco de Mayo also partly represents a “fake” celebration of Mexican heritage created to get customers into restaurants.

Man On The Run

He be runnin’ from Columbia with his tail between his legs and from more political boogeymen than MTG can shake a stick at. The unsurprising outcry at college campuses across the country should be a wake-up call for fuckwits like this. But when politics by other means gets a good grip on the collective psyche, political scores carry big bonus points.

I’m hesitant to give the commensurate crime/politics tags, were it not for the regrettable, in many cases, criminal outcomes last week. The only significant crime here is MAGA mouthpieces supporting religious violence and bigotry. Everybody knows who’s fault the whole mess really is. We’ll figure it out after the Brits step up and take responsibility.

Many students who showed up to protest Johnson’s remarks also cast him as an opportunist. They interrupted him throughout his remarks, chanting “free, free Palestine,” and shouting “liar,” “get off our campus,” and “criticism of Israel is not antisemitism.” At one point, when students’ chants of “we can’t hear you” became overwhelming, Johnson paused and smirked before quipping, “enjoy your free speech.”

That Virginia Fox fuckwit might actually be medically demented.

Pond v11

Did a before-after shoot on the liner work this year. I believe this will be the last time it needs re-surfaced prior to startup for at least a few years. The sump was finished with Pondshield® leftover from last season two weeks ago. As expected, it was quite time-consuming and difficult getting things ready to coat. the main issue this time was old, dried-up algae that grows and accumulates in there. It gets embedded everywhere, needing scrubbed out with a wire brush before final sanding prep. I spent the past month doing that for an hour or so almost every day.

The big hole appears to have a really good solid base on it, going on seven years of development. IIRC, it was around 7-8 years ago when it was dug out to the current size and the concrete footer installed. The first few years were just a little 100-gallon starter hole growing from there, probably around 10x that capacity after that last dig..

There were a few small cracks to repair after shutdown last fall, but nothing serious. the 3-gallon epoxy kit will be at least enough for two full coats in there this year. It’s like plastic paint that hardens after 20 minutes, thick and difficult to apply, with mixing and time constraints. It’s also the only thing I’ve found in all these years that actually seems to work well in this application, as advertised.
