How We Use Science

Too bad that’s not the worst of it.

How right can being wrong be?

Elon sending a quarter-million N95s

“But it turns out, nature is smarter than scientists, and the novel coronavirus found a way to mutate that was better — and completely different— from anything scientists could have created, the study found.”

A recent (yesterday?) poll said the majority of Americans approve of Trump’s crises handling.  They must have asked 10 people what they though about getting free money.  For those more reality-based readers.

These assholes called a government spent months watching the Wuhan disaster unfold as if it was some new entertainment channel on Youtube.  Now the Cunt-in-Chief stands before the country spreading misinformation and lies, while his crippled administration stands behind him in stark disbelief.  The good part is at least we saw it coming.  The bad news is we are woefully un-prepared.

He really wanted to do a full facepalm.  Is he fired yet?

Why Now?

Oh wait – a dangerous new virus is raging across the planet in an un-unprecedented global pandemic.  Now I get it.  THAT’S why we need things like sick leave and robust disaster preparedness along with decent child care and unemployment programs.

Apparently that stuff was too expensive, complicated or otherwise un-doable a month ago.  WTF happened?  Duh.  Just imagine if we had those things before the virus began spreading uncontrollably.  My hindsight is 20/20.  But we pay the government to have FOREsight – on things other than elections and corporate profiteering.  Once again, somehow it just doesn’t seem like we’re getting our money’s worth.

To hell with conservative dogma.  Those days are over.  Too bad it took fear for their very own lives to get off their rich, fat asses and do the right thing for a change.  Now we will wait to hear the walk-back after things clear up.

This morning’s FDA press conference was scary.  I remain impressed with Trump’s ability to yammer on continuously without actually saying anything.  The FDA Director’s body language and appearance was telling.  I wondered if maybe we would witness a nationally-broadcast assassination attempt as he stood behind the Chump-in-Chief glaring angrily.

The CoronaVirus stance has transitioned from mitigation to suppression in many places around the world.  That in itself portends very grave consequences in terms of both healthcare and economic viability, the world over.  Remember the old saying “when the U.S. sneezes, Europe catches a cold?”  Buckle up.

The Most Important Job

Funny how my posting theme transitioned heavily into politics over the past couple years.  The Ukranian fiasco represented a hard tipping point, for me.  This clown is an illegitimate President.  A huge pandemic spreads across the globe and the only thing Trump cares about is how it hurts his re-election campaign.  Every time I think it can’t get any worse, it does.  His narcissism, hubris and stupidity was killing Ukrainians and Kurds before.  Now it’s killing Americans. Where will it stop?

Must have been a line at the executive washroom shower.  How could you not feel dirty  after that?  Hat should read:  “Keep America Sick!”  Chris Hayes has it spot on.  Watch the whole disturbing spiel here.

But in retrospect, as pointed out by Leafly’s Bruce Barcott, we could have seen it coming.  There won’t be much left of the government by this time next year, regardless of who gets elected in the fall.

Your Un-Checked Government

I alluded to the smart/dumb people analogy in terms of government stupidity a few days ago.  The related learning from history or not analogy, as the case may be, applies here.  This is what you get with un-checked authoritarian religious bigots calling the shots:

“It has never been my practice to choose the popular course,” she said. “When others lie as naturally as they breathe, I become frustrated and angry.” She concluded “with one request—and that is that your committee protect those Americans who have honestly, wholesomely, and unselfishly tried to perfect this country and make the guarantees in our Constitution live. The actors, musicians, artists, composers, and all of the men and women of the arts are eager and anxious to help, to serve. Our country needs us more today than ever before. We should not be written off by the vicious slanders of little and petty men.”

Full story here.  69 years ago this gang of charlatans called a government ruined the career of a great artist for nothing.  Hazel Scott wasn’t the first, and certainly wasn’t the last.  These mutherfuckers running the government today have been laying low waiting for the Trump opportunity.  They are now in the process of a full-scale assault on women’s reproductive rights.

Fuck Trump.  Fuck the Government, and Fuck every single clergy, councilman, state rep or Federally-elected seat holder who thinks their conservative views on race, religion and sex are worth the slime they skate around on.

Difference Between Smart and Dumb People

… isn’t that smart people don’t make mistakes – they certainly do.  They just don’t keep making the same mistakes over and over again:  “Former CFPB Director Cordray cautions against that approach. He points out that even The Mortgage Bankers Association filed a brief in this case “saying whatever you do don’t strike down the agency as a whole because it would cause chaos in the mortgage market. “

It’s a new era of authoritarian U.S. government.

Bloomberg is a Twit

Watched most of the SC debate last night.  Very little stood out.  Buttigieg is clearly the most rational, smartest and best looking.  Biden appears to be a tired, old crank, repeating stock talking points regardless of their relevance to the question posed.  The women are strong and believable, but could never stand against Trump’s pre-approved misogynistic stance.

Bernie is the man.  Attacking him on the Russian topic right out of the gate at this juncture is telling.  Nobody really knows anything definitive about that just yet.  So the suggestion that people are doing cyber-work with the Russians presents an exploitable vulnerability attributable to anyone.  Everybody is working with the Russians in cyberspace.  It’s just a question of for-or-against in the wild Internet West.  They are monitoring this blog.  Does that make me a Russian asset?  Keywords are what they are #mutherfuckers.

Bloom’s weak and disingenuous attack only proves his misunderstanding of technology and a willingness to exploit politically-charged buzzwords.  He needs to just get behind the front runner and start pumping money in the right direction.  Set one of your people up with the DNC and start writing checks before any chance of beating Trump slips away.

Two sides of the wealth coin in American politics.

Broken

That’s me now – completely and utterly, sitting in a jail of my own design, imposed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  Physically – midsection shot, metal clear across, living in constant pain for the past 14 months.  Mentally – gaslighted by the VA for 10 months, doubting my own sanity in a world of cognitive dissonance.  Emotionally – family relationships ruined, perhaps irreparably.  I only hope the lumbar fusion surgery last week puts the physical part back on track, because that is the root cause  for all of it.  Thanks VA, don’t know what I’d do without you.  Prognosis is good for Dr. Donner’s work, with no un-expected ill-effects noted from the back surgery I didn’t need until after Dr. Park got ahold of me, January 8th, 2019.

Just a quick update to put the site back in service after a few days of infrastructure tuning and offline analysis.  Hey fuckface – no, the other fuckface, Putin:  tell your FSB buddies my onion is ready to peel.

Even Putin cannot believe it.

The World's Human Garbage

You can trace the origin of every similar image across the globe to some leading dictator, clergy, oligarch, politician, whoever.  Their policies and industries are killing the planet and draining humanity’s soul.  Proof:

Sorry, but there appears to be a dearth of anything good to write about.  Bye-bye.  Not that anybody was listening anyway.  We’ll be offline for some time while I finish integrating a new NIDS after some preliminary testing over the past few months.

There's a Fine Line

Evil and malevolence are disturbing and unfortunately active forces in our society.  They are dark and dangerous, with few wiling or even able to effectively deal with them.  And yet motives and outcomes they engender can be beneficial to the greater good under the right circumstances.  It’s not hard to get past the wrong side of it once you realize everything you do falls on one side or the other of that good/bad line and stays there, the moment you push the “go” button.

Think about it next time you do something.

Every waking moment, every human being goes down their chosen path on one side of that line or the other, close, far away, or somewhere in-between.  Everything they say or do influences to some extent, everything and everyone they come in contact with, somewhere on the spectrum of negative-to-positive outcomes.  Bet there’s a lot of people sitting around in Washington D.C. right now with either no clue on which side of the line they stand, or a delusional cognition problem.  JMHO, but in terms of potential consequences, that last little faux pas in the Senate was about as far across the wrong side of the line people have gone since WWII, in a coordinated, group-think fashion.

The Honorable Lyin' Piece 'o Shyt

Trump is an obvious con man, but this vapid mutherfucker is just deceitful:

How’s McConnell’s cock feel stuffed to the hilt up your ass?

Here’s what the son-of-a-bitch had to say afterwards:  “The question before us is whether or not a policy question can be grounds for impeachment. The policy question is, can the president be impeached for looking at how taxpayer dollars are being spent? I simply don’t think that’s true.”

You know this is NOT a “policy question.”  And if you insist on characterizing it in that manner, then the “policy” is no foreign election interference.  FYI, that concept is law.  What we do know for a fact now though is, you only care about one thing:  staying in office.  Good luck with that.  The local news interviews were downright embarrassing.

Thanks for letting us know what you think.  Now that we know your thought process is fatally flawed, with your character irreparably damaged from hubris and greed, your career in politics is over.  We’ll see what you have to say in November.  Good riddance.

“Honorable” is certainly a misnomer for this example.  Don’t let the rogue Trump administration fool you.  The U.S. Flag flies upside down at my house as long as Trump remains in office.

The GOP is dead. Long live the GOP.

The sad part is they know they can’t win on the tired, doomed conservative platform they by definition, cannot effectively amend.  So they cheat.  A vote is not a resource to be exploited.  It is a resource to be supported.  Amoral cocksuckers.

Hypocrisy Defined

Throughout the impeachment drama, Republicans decried the “partisan whatever...”  This line of faulty logic typically follows a path of partisan election stealing, partisan Trump hating and/or a few other choice topics of widely recognized POTUS dissatisfaction.  So when the chips fall, a decision on the most fundamental question to appear before a deliberative body, perhaps ever, will be decided along party lines.

Talk about setting a dangerous precedent:  A trial without witnesses.  A trial indeed, with widely known evidence suppressed.  Witness the behavior of top officials, berating and abusing journalists in a mashup of starkly divided media lines.  In retrospect, it seems inevitable.  The Trump administration has gone rogue.

It is utterly astounding to me how Philbin can stand there and deny the assertion of crimes not instantiated as such in the articles, in total deference to the litany of crimes in the who, what, where, and why contained in overwhelming evidence supporting those articles.  Just astounding.

More or less organized. Presidential handlers are either asleep at the wheel or high as a kite.

Counsel for the Defense

Pam Bondi did a great job embarrassing herself, responding to what seemed to me to be an incomprehensible question:  “What did Hunter Biden do for Burisma?”  More to the point IMHO, who cares?  The pause determining who would even answer the call was telling.  Later pauses looking up basic facts obviously irrelevant to anything in question was even more telling.  The defense team does not appear to be up to speed on the trivial details of their own case.  I was given to believe the whole false Biden/Burisma narrative was central to the defense?

Distracted by your own pernicious distraction.  Almost as bad as Philbin responding to being called out on the subpoena authorization line of bullshyt.  Ignore the real fact, repeat the alternate fact.  Derschowitz is a master of circular reasoning, railing against the framer’s vague generality stance while denying any potentially as yet unknowable acts by this or any future President should be considered impeachable – based on precedent(?).  Well, they never did that before – must be OK!

The left sends compelling oratory with Demings, Jeffries and Schiff.  The right stumbles to define any semblance of a coherent case.  Their evasive responses grow tiring.  Utterly disgraceful.

Leading Questions

Interesting how the senator’s questions can be answered in literally opposite ways, depending on which side it is directed to.  For example, “Isn’t it the President’s responsibility to conduct foreign policy?”  The answer is yes, of course.  But in the same vein, foreign policy is not a tool for criminal electioneering.

OTOH, the same question could be posed as “Isn’t it the President’s responsibility to guard against foreign interference in our elections?  The answer is yes, of course.  But in the same vein, politics is incidental to foreign policy on many levels, therefore irrelevant to the charge(s).

Just depends on how you like your reality defined, I suppose.  I prefer mine grounded in truth – at least to whatever extent objective reality presents itself.

Language as the art of influence.  What a concept.  These mutherfuckers are trying to gaslight the whole goddamn country.  Hang on tight Mr. President – your grip on reality is slipping fast.

Somebody said you were above me?

The Politics of Fear

Failure and scorn are strong motivators.  Not sure what he has to be afraid of, but we will soon find out.  One way or the other Mr. Cory Gardner, GOP senator from Colorado, will cast perhaps his first vote in that chamber that doesn’t just cross party lines.  Perhaps not.  Here’s the advice he got from me:

“Everyone understands the witness vote is a no-win situation – for you. Blame your GOP roots on an accident of birth, if that helps. In any event, the only thing that matters in your upcoming senate vote is how it affects the country. Don’t follow your POTUS’ example, and do damage control on your own time/dime.”

Impartial justice will be served.  Only question is upon who will it’s full weight be felt?

What’s it gonna be, bud?
