IT and Healthcare in the Crapper

Probably not alot of Product and Program Managers skewing the numbers. Some of them probably are in IT and Healthcare, so the picture for those industries must be pretty bleak. One of the reasons I liked being enlisted in the Air Force for twenty years was I always got a new job every couple years, whether they thought I needed it or not.

It’s not just IT and Healthcare, if the Help Wanted signs I see posted everywhere are any indication.

Pick Your Favorite Archetype

With big followings all over the map, these two might represent the largest cross-sections of idolatry-inclined fawning fans worldwide. The SanFran Chronicle article linked below highlights an interesting comparo/contrast in contemporary archetype culture. It also pretty clearly demonstrates how the Person of the Year award reflects the wide range and diversity of what people might aspire to, be it fame and fortune, or Fuckwit fellowship.

And what a joke it is. Somehow I think these two trajectories are as contrary as the circumstances that got them here. You tell ’em, girl.

Some risk of popularity decline after this award. I speak from experience lol. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 7, 2023

Musk will re-instate Alex Jones' on X

Fuckwit’s trying to rule the world with Twitter polls.

Risk – what a concept. Guess it depends alot on who or what’s at stake.

Not the Headline I Saw Yesterday

Houthis may not be targeting US warships, Pentagon says.

May not? They may not be targeting all sorts of shyt, ya think? Just another example of how THE MEDIA (however you wish to define the ill-informed, inaccurate, misleading and ofttimes just downright wrong fuckwits) takes a piece of news and spins it for max eyeball draw.

It’s not just USA Today. Every major broadcast outlet was trumpeting this all morning. Fuck them, be they war correspondents or former midshipmen shitting their pants. And fuck those editors obsessing with their numbers at home office with utmost intensity. If you can’t report the facts, then please just STFU.

All True

Within certain perspective-limited constraints, this stuff was all true for me, at one time or another. But that’s how stereotypes and urban legends get started. Enough of it comes and goes for people in an ongoing basis, and there you have it. I’ll go through them one-by-one real quick, just to explain what I’m talking about.

10. The winter is just one big snowstorm. Well of course not, but some of them do get big, and that’s the part of winter you always remember. My first years here after joining the Air Force at Buckley ANGB in 1983 saw -20°F temps for almost a week the 1st winter over Xmas and the following year we had one of the biggest Thanksgiving blizzards on record. But most of the time it’s pretty damn nice.

9. The wild animals are friendly. Just glad we didn’t learn this one the hard way when me ‘n Francie got too close to that Elk up in the Park one day.

8. Everyone likes craft beer. Probably true – statistically, speaking.

7. Visiting Colorado is always super expensive. Also true. Even tent camping is gonna run you some $$ once properly geared up for a family-sized outing.

6. Everyone here is high. Probably just depends on where you hang out at what time of day, not unlike anywhere else.

5. Every Coloradan skis. See below. I had great fun attempting it with the AF buds, back in the day.

4. No one works, we just explore. Bias confirmation. You can’t drive through the state and not be tempted to do it.

3. Everyone loves the Denver Broncos. Another likely statistical truth. I love to hate ’em.

2. All Coloradans are super athletes. No, just the few who are already super athletes and get to compete the day after arrival at lower elevation. Everybody else is probably fairly average across the board.

1. Colorado is all mountains. Probably about half-and-half, yeah whatever.

I’d been the one doing somersaults with skis flying in different directions.

5712 Midsummer

Took a few pics around the place the other day. Birds got the sunflowers going good on the other side of the fence this year. That aspen closest to the garage will probably be gone next year, forming the 3rd leg of the flower stand. It just seemed to struggle the whole time for some reason. Probably too much diesel exhaust. Little pole barn in back seems to be holding up well despite the unconventional design.

Leaves starting to come down already.

Ready to Listen ?

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Goddamned right it is.

“Southern California is under its first-ever tropical storm watch as Hilary approaches.”

If it tracks straight in, alot of shyt’s gonna get real wet.

It’s only a question of where and how bad now.

Got My Warning (scheduled)

People need to slow down. I used to be one of the worst offenders. Nowadays I just open it up a little on the way back from Ace Hardware to get the truck warmed up. Need to pay closer attention tho, because officer Fountain nabbed me Tuesday.

Getting killed in a car crash would be rather disappointing after everything I’ve been through. Or maybe appropriate – dunno.
