Gotta Cut the Cord

Sometimes you just gotta terminate the toxic relationships. I get how Windoze users are reluctant to give up their eye candy. That’s no longer even a valid argument considering the new desktops on some of the Linux distros I’ve seen lately. I did the dual-boot thing myself back in the day, but it was never more than a time-wasting exercise in confusion and mistakes, even when it was working correctly. If you need a windoze box for whatever, just use an old spare for that task and try to avoid connecting it to the Internet.

I returned a brand new laptop to Amazon earlier this year after it got fubar’d with the secure boot nonsense. Apparently that was before they really fucked it up. The only way I know to do it now is with a dedicated drive, and even then you’re jumping thru unnecessary hoops, for what?

Microsoft has been using Secure Boot in Windows for years, and made it a key requirement for Windows 11 to use the technology to secure against BIOS rootkits. Researchers have found plenty of vulnerabilities in Secure Boot over the years, and recently it was discovered that Secure Boot is completely broken on many PCs.

My copy of Windoze 11 is not really even being used – infrequent analysis and testing only. Micro$0ft factored into leaving Michelle and Dexter behind after the last incident here. They get the Wuhan treatment now – gotta protect urselves!

Oh yeah, it’s real secure – nobody gets on after this update.
